You CAN!
I believe a problem that today's youth has is confidence. It is obvious that the minds of young people are extraordinary. In all reality, it is capable of absolutely anything. But, nothin can be accomplished unless we put our minds to it. I have listened to some of the hopes and dreams of my peers, in which they will start the story off in a very enthusiastic tone but it always ends in "Yeah, but don't think I would be able to do all of that." I hate to hear that statement. We are all capable of doing ANYTHING. We should start setting our sights high so we can shoot above them. Think about it, we are in control of our every action. Even though situations get hard and may seem impossible, it surely is not. Sometimes it actually takes hard work in order to reach where we WANT to be. There is nothing wrong with that. Whenever you start to feel that the uphill battle is a little too steep, remember every mountain can be scaled. What the ______ is this? I call it CONFIDENCE!

Like the advice! You are totally right, many of today's youth don't believe enough in themselves to believe that it's only impossible if they believe it. Too many talents have gone to waste because of this lack of confidence and none motivation. If plenty of people would just take the word can't out of their vocabulary I'm pretty sure the world and our society would be a better place so like Obama said "Yes We Can"
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree in everything you have said. I have had times in my life when I felt like I couldn't accomplish something and have somehow found a way out of it succeeding. On the other hand, I have failed many a time in my life wether it be with school or something else that I look back on and realize that if I would have tried harder and with more confidence, I would have succeeded no matter what.
ReplyDeleteCecil, failure happens. BUT, it is not a reason to give up. Failure is a teacher. I can see that you have already realized how to take failure and use it to your advantage. You said you failed at something school related. When that problem arrives again, you will have what you need in your arsenal to come out on top.
ReplyDeleteRaven, I like that we are on the same page of thinking! You seem to have a great mind. Thank you both for your input.
What do you think has caused a lack of confidence among your peers, Christopher?

I think there is a lack of parental motivation. In some cases teachers cause a lack of confidence. I can remember times where I will hear teachers tell other student that high school is as far as it goes. That type of statement coming from an educator stings.
ReplyDeleteGreat statement. You are more than right about everything you said. Most of our peers think that they can’t do most things because they don’t have the support of other friends or family. If you aim high there is no reason that you should fall below the line. Some people stay on that right path because they have family and friends to keep them inspired, but what some people don’t realize is that the biggest inspiration starts with you.
ReplyDeleteConfidence is definitely something that every person needs especially today. However it seems like a lot of people have fallen into the mindset of "if I set my standards low, I can only be pleasantly surprised." That's all well and good but with that mindset there can never be something profound and innovative come from the minds of "whatever happens, happens and I won't do anything to do better". Confidence can instill a lot more in a person then what is initially thought. Everyone has some great potential. and in a perfect world, everyone can see that in themselves. Since it is far from a perfect world however. We need our voices to point out the good and inspire a greater form of confidence.
ReplyDeleteWow...very interesting! I totally agree. We grow up in a period where parents are not always there to tell us great job and you can do it or dream big, and we are not in the century where people want to reach farther then the free unemployment check or to the point I'm just making it. We need to expand our minds and let our minds grow freely without putting a limit on ourselves in order to reach a point of having that kind of confidence. I also think that we need to have different programs in high school that talks to children about confidence to help them not to be scared to go the extra mile to get what they really want and don't just settle for less.
